Fran has surgery, out indefinitely

Hey guys,

Fran shot me a note last night that he’s having surgery today to repair the herniated disc in his back. No timetable for his return. Please join me in wishing Fran a speedy recovery and that he’s back out on the ice soon. Best of luck Fran!

Schedule updated through end of summer

What’s up guys,

Laubenstein must’ve heard the Kings grumbling because the rest of the schedule for the summer is posted, and after tomorrow’s game, only one game starts after 8:30pm. For the rest of the summer we play Tuesday, Tuesday, Monday, Tuesday, week off, then Tuesday again. See the schedule page for more. We get 15 games this summer.

Also playoffs start first week of September or week after labor day, depending. Bottom two teams in our division have a single-game play-in, followed by the usual double-elimination tournament.

Also, not too soon to start thinking about the fall – gotta get those checks in early. I’ll get back to you in the midst of August with more details but start putting your cash away now.

See you tomorrow…

Kings lose to Chowderheads

Tuesday July 13, 2010 – Boch Ice Center

The Kings couldn’t muster enough offense to beat the Chowderheads and lost 3-2 Tuesday night. After giving up two quick goals in the first, the Kings gathered two goals, first on an eephus-pitch one-timer from Bryan from the right point, and then from Alan who grabbed a loose puck in the slot, beat the goaltender and potted the tying goal. On the ensuing faceoff the Chowderheads came right back down the ice and retook the lead, finding an uncovered player on the back door. Despite some strong work in the offensive corners the Kings couldn’t really find a rhythm, and after a minute or so with an extra skater, John was called for a weak penalty at the end of the game.
