Kings stumble against Hack Pack

Monday November 28, 2011 – Canton Sportsplex

Despite a strong start, the Kings defense foundered, surrending the final 5 goals to Hack Pack in a 7-4 loss Monday night. J-Rod got on the board on the first shift of the game, and Greg scored twice in one shift to break a 2-2 deadlock, and despite sustained offensive pressure in the second period the Kings couldn’t hold the lead, giving up a shorthanded goal to tie the game late in the third. Ed managed to turn aside a 4-on-0 and 4-on-1, as well as a few other decent chances by the Hack Pack. The Kings couldn’t convert with the extra attacked and gave up an ENG and another slow chip-in for the loss.

Kings tie River Rats at 6 apiece

Thursday November 17, 2011 – UMass Boston

The Kings and River Rats put on a barnburner at UMass, combining for 6 goals apiece with plenty of shots for both teams. Bermy got the first star, powering the offense for 4 goals, helping the Kings overcome a couple of 2-goal deficits. J-Rod got the final equalizer late in the 3rd to start a power play; after a clean faceoff win, he tipped home a slow shot from the point that fooled the Rats goaltender. Otherwise a lot of back-and-forth and fast breaks for both teams that tested both goaltenders and a few close calls, including a last-second shot from Fran that went behind the goalie but just past the far post, landing in the corner as time expired. Good effort to steal a point from a strong team.

We’re off until after Thanksgiving, playing on Monday after the holiday. Everyone have a happy Thanksgiving and safe travels.

Kings Fall to Icepack 4-1

The Kings winning streak came to an end, losing a tough 4-1 decision to old friends the Icepack. The game-sheet is here: http://neshl_mboston.stats.pointstreak.com/players-boxscore.html?gameid=1761663
Past couple games the bounces had been going our way, this game none went our way. And you have to give credit to a strong Icepack team and their goalie who made a crap ton of saves.
Schedule does not get any easier as the Kings battle the River Rats on Thursday night @UMASS Boston.

Kings defeat Everett Auto 9-2

It was team picture night as the Kings had a full bench to take on a tough Everett Auto team. The game was much closer than the lopsided final score.
The Kings were down 1-2 early in the second period but rattled off eight straight goals, including five in the third period. Full bench has been leading to some big third periods this season. The only two goals the Kings surrendered were on breakaways.
The J-Rod line was responsible for four goals in the third period and three on one shift. Fran got things going on the PP in the first off a great feed from Jon. Josh had two goals and several assists. Alan had the game winner and Paul had a big goal to push the lead to 5-2 early in the third.
Kings score nine goals we’re going to win a lot of hockey games, but you can’t overlook Ed’s stellar play in goal. When the game was tight in the first and second period, Ed kept making the first save and controlling the rebounds, not allowing second or third chances.

Let’s keep the win streak going on Sunday. If you drink beer, BRING BEER! And PAY BRYAN!
