Kings win over Misfits again on Jeff Garrity Bobblehead Night

Friday August 26, 2011 – Boch Ice Center

The Kings got another victory over the Misfits Friday night, with J-Rod and Greg leading the scoring in a 6-1 victory on Jeff Garrity Bobblehead Night at Dedham. Another slow start for the Kings offense but not for lack of scoring chances, but for the first period it appeared the Misfits goalie was stealing all the good chances from the Kings. After spotting the Misfits a 1-0 lead on a snipe from the right circle, Burger got the game tied on a bank shot from the left corner that snuck past the Misfits goalie late in the 1st. The game was tied throughout the 2nd until J-Rod broke through with the eventual game winner, one of two for him on the night, and the Kings chances finally starting finding the back of the net. Jeff had a couple of great chances but got robbed by the goalie on more than one occasion.

A big thanks to the Garritys for hosting a postgame BBQ that went late into the night, true to Kings fashion. Jeff handed over the Kings’ 2004 trophy, and bestowed the “Yard Sale” Enforcer Award to Bermy, and the “Forecheck, Backcheck, Social Security Check” 2-Way Player Award to Fran.

Next week is Jeff’s final game in a Kings uniform, and there will be a postgame BBQ in the Quincy parking lot. Past, present and future Kings players and fans, If you can’t make it for the game please feel free to stop by for burgers and beer after the game.

The Kings offense kicked it up again with a 12-2 victory over the Misfits in Dedham on Friday. With most of the Kings lineup out of action, the Kings got some help from their friends. Just about everyone showed up on the scoresheet with the Kings taking a 4-0 lead at the end of the first and expanding it to 12-2 by game’s end. Fortunately nobody got hotheaded but you can bet the Misfits will be eyeing the rematch next Friday at 8pm.

Kings’ skid continues with 5-3 loss

Thursday August 4, 2011 – Canton Sportsplex

The Kings losing streak continued with a 5-3 loss to the Icebergs last Thursday. The Kings couldn’t muster a whole lot of offense against the Icebergs, and the ‘bergs battled back to tie it twice and eventually take the lead on an extended PP at the end of the game. Greg Jenner made some Tim Thomas-esque saves to keep it close but couldn’t stop them all as the Icebergs got most of the good chances in the game. Bermy and Jeff had the goals before the Icebergs got the go-ahead goal late in the 3rd on a 5-4 power play, and got an empty netter to finish it off.
