2010 Bostonfest

Hey guys,

2010 Bostonfest is on, starting this Friday March 12 and running through to Sunday the 14th. Laubenstein’s schedule online is screwed up, the full schedule as he emailed me is online here. Please refer to this schedule from now on. (The webcal version is up to date too.)

This year’s schedule adds more teams and an extra semi-final game for a potential maximum of 5 games. Our three scheduled games are

  • Friday 8:30pm @ Dedham vs. Phoenix
  • Saturday 12:30pm @ Milton Academy vs. Mass ARNG
  • Saturday 6:20pm @ Dedham vs. Olde Time Hockey

There are nine teams in our conference, and four in our division (we play each team in our division as above). If we finish in the top 2 in our division, we play Sunday morning in Milton Academy (either 10:20am or 11:30am), and the conference championship is at 1:50pm Sunday at Milton.

I’m looking into getting some quick shirts printed up this week that would be on the cheap. Expect to pay at least $65 for the whole weekend.

Kings top Digitas

Wednesday March 3, 2010 – UMass Boston

The Kings put together a solid effort in a 6-3 win over Digitas at UMass Boston on Wednesday night. Frank opened the scoring with a nice shot from the left point that snuck inside the post, and John scored minutes later to extend the lead to 2-0. After letting up two quick goals the Kings locked down on D and got more goals from Pete and John. Bermy blasted a slapper from the right side in, and after another Digitas score, Fran added the 6th goal in the 3rd.

Kings top Brown Club 5-3

Tuesday February 23, 2010 – Pilgrim Arena

The Kings bounced back from last week’s loss with a solid team effort resulting in a 5-3 win over Brown Club. Josh factored on 4 of the 5 goals and Bermy had a Gordie Howe hat trick in the win. Despite spotting the opposition a 2 goal lead less than a minute after the first faceoff, the Kings gathered the momentum and scored the next three goals en route to the victory. The first score was converted on a 5-on-3 power play, with everyone on the ice getting a touch before Josh buried the goal on a feed from Frank and Fran. John got the equalizer not long after, and Jeff scored a classic backhander high blocker-side after on a feed from Paul and Josh. Brown Club would tie it on the power play, but Bermy potted the gamewinner on a nice slapper from the left circle, and John padded the score minutes later.

Kings defense falters, loses to Brown Club

Wednesday February 19, 2010 – Asiaf Arena Brockton

The Kings defense once again fell in on itself, squandering a 3-1 lead late in the third to hand a win to a beatable Brown Club. Despite goals by Paul, John and Pete the defense was perpetually caught up ice, giving up too many odd-man rushes for the Kings to handle. The Kings get a chance for revenge when we face them again next week.

I didn’t manage to get the game sheet from last night so if anyone has details on the scoring, pass it along; otherwise I’m going from memory.
