Kings advance to division semifinals
Thursday September 15, 2011 – Boch Ice Center
The Kings advanced to the semifinals with a 9-3 win over Rush last night. Rush never held a lead but stuck around for a while and kept the game interesting with a few near misses (lots of ringing iron in the Kings’ end), until an offensive outburst midway through the 3rd sealed the win. Jeff Garrity’s last game as a King was a memorable one, as the younger Garrity set up Senior on a couple of nice goals. Frank opened the scoring with a nice snipe from the left faceoff circle, and Jon, Paul and Ian all netted crucial goals along the way, but Rush hung around long enough with a couple of tough goals. The Kings held a slim lead when J-Rod, in the neutral zone and headed off the ice for a change, spotted Bob coming up with the puck by the half wall in the Kings end and called for the puck. Bob hit him with a perfect pass and he went in alone and buried the shot.
