Kings defeat Michael Murrs 7-4

Kings started the weekend off right with a convincing 7-4 win over Michael Murrs in Dedham on Friday night. Rodriguez scored the first goal on a nice wrap around and grabbed another goal later with a pass of the post to himself. Bermy scored two goals right off of offensive zone faceoff wins. Kings dominated the faceoff dot all night. Paul put one home with a nice move on a penalty shot in the third period. Bryan looked sharp coming back after an extended absence because of surgery. With only ten skaters and seven goals, everyone was in on the attack. MM got two goals late to make it closer, and one goal on a phantom call with JonG in the box.
Next week’s game is EARLY on Thursday night. Who is IN or OUT?

Jake played defense with us this summer but was injured for the playoff games. He is healthy again and looking to get back on the ice. Until we lock someone else up for the final roster spot, Jake said he would play when he can, paying as he goes.

I remember Jake. Wasn’t sure if he was playing. Good guy, but did we not lock up that last spot?

I think we have enough guys, Frank, don’t we? We don’t need Jake unless we’re going to be short-handed I’d say, and if we only have two guys out, we should be OK. No need to add guys and have a floater.

I was under the impression that we would be shorthanded on Thursday. Lots of people still have to check in.
And we need to see Jake to get his spare jersey back anyways.

IMO, in the future we should wait until we have an idea of who’s missing before declaring a sub “in”. Everyone else pays pretty good money to play, I don’t think those guys paid at all last season and played for quite a bit – so we’re subsidizing their playing time, and we’re getting less ice time. It’s fine when we are really short, but when we have two lines, we get into floaters which isn’t fair to the paying players.

It’s one thing if we have less than 10 guys, but any more than that I don’t think we should be bringing in non-paying subs – and bringing a 12 pack of beer doesn’t count as paying.

No offense to Matt & the Jakes, who seem like nice enough guys, but the rest of us are paying.

I would definitely have Jake play this summer. He is a good guy and a terrific hockey player. Also Jake plays defense so that allows us to have Fran, Bermie and/or Bryan to play forward. It is nice to have that flexibility. As in the past (particularly summer) we will never have the entire roster showing up on any given night.

The only request is that Jake, and everyone else, let’s Frank or Bryan know, in advance, when they will not be able to play. If we do that, then we will never have too many players.

I agree Jeff – jake is a great defenseman but again, they need to pay -I’d love to play whenever I can and not pay. how do I get in on that?

When one more person pays, each players cost goes down – we should at least get that benefit if we’re adding players to the roster.

I am likely out for Thursday. I will try to get out of work early but it is unlikely.

I understand that everyone pays their hard earned money to play and ice time is precious. I also believe that there was one last open spot that has not been paid for. (Lost Hingham bus, picked up Rodriguez and JonG).
Jake filling in part-time would cut down that open spot, which I am sure Bryan would have to roll into next season as I wouldn’t expect him to have to carry that for the entire team.
I would prefer we just sign someone up for that last spot full time. I am not sure who that player is though.

It’s simple if we are very short we can bring him in. Jake is a good guy and a great D. Jake if you are reading this can you play full time? It it my understanding that we have a full spot open. If we have less then 10 guys who are coming then we will need help.
