Kings beat Check Republic 4-2

Tuesday June 29, 2010 – Canton Sportsplex

The Kings bounced back into the win column with a solid 4-2 win over Check Republic last night. Pete opened the scoring with an end-to-end rush in the second, and the Kings extended it to 2-0 when Burger scooped up a loose puck in the right faceoff circle, skated around a couple of defenders and fed it across the crease to Ian for the tip-in. Check Republic got on the board when two forwards left alone on the left corner of the crease started hacking away at Ed, who had been solidly turning aside shot after shot to that point. The Kings would get the two goal lead back when Josh grabbed a loose puck off an offensive zone faceoff, wheeled and fired low stick-side, but Check Republic cut the lead again when a forward raced in and lofted a backhand from the right side just over Ed’s glove. Mike Rizzitano answered less than two minutes later, getting a puck in the right faceoff circle, wheeling and firing on net for the capper. A good team effort and another well-deserved win for Ed in net, who was on his angles all night. Great PK in the middle period as well.

Hey guys. Sorry I hadn’t posted sooner. Thanks for thinking about me. Long story short . . . Kidney issue was misdiagnosis. I have a herniated disc in my back causing pain and loss of feeling in my right leg. Still not exactly sure how bad it is. Started Physical Therapy. Had MRI Friday. Waiting to get opinion from Neuro Surgeon. Don’t expect me back on the ice before the end of the summer season. Nevertheless, I plan to be on the bench for game versus Pirates next week.

Fran,

Sorry to hear about your herniated disc, but relieved that it is not your kidney. We missed you last night, but Mike made you proud. Burger made the entire Kings Organization stunned, elated and proud! He has become a great set-up player as well as our enforcer (with both you and Bermie out).

Glad to hear that you will be on the bench against the Pirates. We need the coaching combination of Toe Blake and Emil “The Cat” Francis!

Heal fast,

Jeff

Look forward to seeing you next week Fran. Glad the kidney thing was a false diagnosis.

Best of luck with the recovery Fran, you don’t realize how crucial the back is until you lose it for a while. Look forward to seeing you on the bench at least.
