Wednesday February 19, 2010 – Asiaf Arena Brockton
The Kings defense once again fell in on itself, squandering a 3-1 lead late in the third to hand a win to a beatable Brown Club. Despite goals by Paul, John and Pete the defense was perpetually caught up ice, giving up too many odd-man rushes for the Kings to handle. The Kings get a chance for revenge when we face them again next week.
I didn’t manage to get the game sheet from last night so if anyone has details on the scoring, pass it along; otherwise I’m going from memory.

Eddie was terrific and we sucked the last 3 minutes of the game. The Brown Club were in our defensive zone for a majority of the game. Throughout the game, we did not have many shots and very few scoring chances. The rare scoring chances we had, we made the most of them.
So we need more shots, more scoring opportunities and an incredible increase in our inensity in the last five minutes of the game (I am the first one guilty of zero intensity last night). We need to win next week, and we need Greg, Alan, Josh and Bermie.

Jeff is making a lot of sense. We’ll put in a three period effort next game.

Hey, whats up up with this talk about the defense falling apart, how about we didnt score enough to win. 5 is the magic # . First to 5 wins 99% of the time . This season we had 1 seven goal game, 1 six goal game, and 3 five goal games. Instead of “defense falters” how about ” Kings need to score more goals if they want to win” . I agree with Jeff we need more intensity and a little more urgency to get the puck out of our zone.

Yeah we do need to start scoring more goals – but when 3 of those goals came on odd-man rushes, that’s just bad defense. I was on the blue line and I count myself in that. What we can’t have is defense rushing the puck and then hanging around low in the offensive zone, or guys trying to pinch when they have the puck high in their zone and already have a guy heading into the neutral zone. We consistently have one of the lowest team GAAs in the league. A big part of that is Eddie but he can’t do it all alone, and he’s saved our asses plenty of times, we owe him a couple.

You got one for me last night – I was horrible and let two crap shots from the blue line in. The nice GAA is a team effort, some games we only give up 10 shots or so.
