Kings fall to Pirates 4-2

Tuesday February 9, 2010 – Canton Sportsplex

After matching the Pirates step for step throughout the game the Kings’ poor defensive play finally caught up with them, giving up the GWG after some poor clearing attempts with just over a minute left in the game. The Kings had a solid couple periods and saw some great chances just miss the net, and despite the low score the offense had some good cycles going throughout the game. After giving up the first goal of the game the Kings evened the score in the 2nd when Bermy came up with the puck off the faceoff outside the Pirates’ zone, walked in the left wing and played a game of catch with Alan, who finally buried it from the right circle. The Pirates took the lead again, but Josh and John hooked up to tie the game up with about eight minutes remaining. However the Kings couldn’t hold on and after plenty of missed opportunities the Pirates finally cashed in with a minute left in the game, and would eventually add an empty-netter to seal the win.

Yeah, Keith *was* on. I saw a shot wiz past me that I thought I’d blocked, and when I didn’t I thought it was in the net, and he was up with it in his glove. I don’t know how he saw it. We played some real shitty D in front of him, all four of us.

Sounds like a good game. Drag I couldn’t make it out. That’s twice we could have tied them this year but gave up a very late goal. I should be back in the line-up next week.

We going to try to scare up some pond hockey again this weekend? Sunday is Valentine’s day and I got nothing to do.

I think the ponds are ruined from the snow but…..
Next couple of games are key. Since we play the Pirates so many times we don’t have much room for error with other games. The Browns are ahead of us in the standings. Even though it’s a late game in Brockton we need a decent turn out-10 guys then we lock the doors.
