The Kings overcame a sluggish start, scoring the final four goals of the game to defeat the Brown Club at Walter Brown on Tuesday night. John opened the scoring cruising in on an odd man rush with speed. The goalie got a piece, but it was a blast and the puck continued on into the net. The Brown Club was able to slip the next two goals past Keith, but overall their chances were limited and Keith was up to the task. Few rebounds to speak of.
With the Kings down one goal half way through the second period, the turning point came when Burger fought the biggest guy on the other team. Burger got taken down hard with a trip, came up swinging, and somehow lost his helmet. Both players were ejected, but the Kings capitalized on the resulting power play. After John just missed a good chance out front, John won a face-off back to Fran who put it low and hard on net. Ian jammed the rebound home and the Kings carried the play the rest of the night. Paul scored the game winner top shelf glove side early in the third. Jeff scored another top shelf glove side on the backhand a couple minutes later. Alan closed out the scoring tipping in a loose puck that was sitting right on the post.
One of the rare nights when the Kings spent less time in the penalty box than the opposition. The game remained chippy the rest of the way with several roughing penalties for each side. The Kings were glad to depart with the victory, and get to pounding beers in the BU dungeon.
Kings need a strong showing next week for another battle with the Pirates. Who is in? Who is out?

Burger did his best Stan Jonathan impersonation and sparked a Kings comeback!
We are now in sole possession of 3rd place (two points ahead of The Brown Club with a game in hand).
We need to continue to win as we are 3 points out of 2nd (Maple Leafs) and 4 points out of 1st (Pirates). However we have a game in hand on both teams.
I will be in Hingham next Tuesday night for the game against the 1st place Pirates. The small rink will work in our favor!

Nice win boys. Wish I could’ve seen Burger throwing knots against those guys.
I’ll be at the next game, be good to skate with my team again.
Working on moving the stats out of Excel, which sucks, into a database. Doing the data entry the hard way, going back to the old scoresheets for the numbers. Yes Jeff I know you’re missing a goal.

Josh,
Good luck with the new job.
We prefer that you are in, versus out of, the Kings line-up. We need you on that left wing!
Enjoy vacation and hurry back.
Thanks,

thanks boys. new job isn’t a life-altering deal (staying at same company) but i’m getting a fairly big promotion and some responsibilities that aren’t a waste of my time. unfortunately having to finish up my current projects is keeping me in the office practically around the clock.
how’d we do tuesday?

we lost 2-0 (one goal being an open net). we miss you man come back soon. For some reason I don’t think the Pirates will be on our schedule for a long time…

You spoke too soon Burger. We are scheduled to play the Pirates on Tues, Feb 9th.
Bryan, tell Paul L. to change that game. There are 8 teams in our own division. It makes no sense playing 38% of our games against the same team throughout the season. Put another way, if we only played teams in our division, we would play 10% of our schedule against each team, and 38% of our schedule against the Pirates.
I do not know why Paul insists on scheduling almost 40% of our games with the Pirates. I would enjoy playing all of the teams in our division, at least once, before the playoffs.
Otherwise, we could have our own league of The Kings and The Young Guns and play each other each week and have more fun. At least we would know who we would meet in the playoffs!

Well said Jeff. What a joke that they are scheduled again. Bryan tell Paul L. we need a cooling off period with those guys. I am trying to find inner peace after that game.

let’s all welcome Frank the philosopher!
the schedule is a joke. always has been, always will be. i’ll never understand why it’s so hard to schedule a relatively even number of games against each division opponent. isn’t that the point of divisions?
i’m back from vaca on the 6th, so i’ll expect to see you all on the 9th.
