Kings settle for 3-3 tie with Anarchy
Sunday October 18, 2009 – Canton Sportsplex
Anarchy scored with an extra attacker with just over a minute left to steal a point from the Kings and salvage a 3-3 tie. Another solid effort all around but the offense just couldn’t put enough points on the board. Ian got the scoring started early, walking the puck off the right wing boards down low and banking the puck in off a defender’s skate, and Paul later buried a rebound from John to stretch out a 2-0 lead. After Bermy got called for a major, Anarchy converted on the power play, potting a rebound to get on the board. Frank got called for a roughing penalty but the Kings were able to kill off the 5-on-3 and the rest of Bermy’s major without further damage. Anarchy got the equalizer in the third when a low shot going wide got tipped and slid past Ed, who had another solid effort in goal. John got the lead back after Greg chipped it up to him in the neutral zone and he beat the Anarchy goalie low stick side. Despite limiting Anarchy’s scoring chances and keeping the puck out of the slot, with just over a minute left they pulled their goalie for a Kings’ zone faceoff. Burger was almost able to chip the puck out over the blue line but they held it in and got a bang-bang play to tie the game.
