2009 Summer playoffs posted
Laubenstein has posted the playoff schedule. The Kings will finish either 4th or 5th depending on how the Bucs do in their final games this week. That means we open up the playoffs in game #5 on Thursday September 17th, 10:10pm in Brockton, against the Bucs or the Brawlers. If we win that game, we play three nights later (Sunday the 20th) in Canton at 7:00pm; if we lose, we play Wednesday the 23rd at 10:40pm in Brockton.
Here’s rules and explanations:
Wildcard game – single elimination game between the bottom two teams in your division. Winner joins rest of division teams for double elimination playoffs.
Double elimination – exactly what it means. The 2nd to last game listed on your division playoff schedule is the championship game. If the team that has one loss wins that game, there is a second championship game. If you enter the championship game undeafeated and win, then you are the champion.
Playoff eligibility – all players must have played at least 5 games. If there is a question about someone’s eligibility, you must inform the scorer and referee before the start of the 2nd period. Player in question must produce an ID. If he does, he is allowed to finish the game. If he hasn’t played the minimum number of games and his team wins, they will lose by forfeit. If player does not produce an ID, he will not be allowed to continue to play, and the league will again check to see if he was eligible. I have changed results in games in the past, so please, no ringers, play with your regular crew, not worth this. I have all the game sheets from the summer so I know who has played.
Overtime – 5 minute stop time sudden death. If still tied, a 5 man shootout. Any player can do this, it’s up to the team captain. Team with better regular season record decides to go first or last, rotating shots. If still tied, one shot at a time, any player can do this, including anyone who did the 5 man shootout, and you can use the same player again and again until a winner has been declared. you can also use different shooters as well.
Championship Game – if overtime, it will be full 17 minute running period with final two minutes stop time. This is sudden death. If still tied, shootout formula is used.
