Kings Score Final Five Goals, Best Bucs 6-5

One would have thought that the first game of the summer season after a long layoff would produce a large King turnout, but only eight (8) regular Kings were available. Luckily, the Icemen were on the ice before and the Kings, and we recruited Massimo and Rodriguez to fill out the lines.  With Ed on maternity leave, the Kings had Mark (?) filling in between the pipes.  After allowing some soft goals early, he settled down and made some big stops, giving the Kings a chance to win.
Understandably, there was some rust on the Kings game.  The Bucs scored, expanding their lead to a comfortable 5-1, with about five minutes left in the second period when the turning point occurred.  Burger was promoted to forward and Greg shifted back on defense.  The Kings scored three quick goals to close out the period (with two great shots by Rodgiguez completing his hat trick and Burger burying a one-timer from the top of the circle), setting up solid third period.
Bermy had a partial break away about half way through the third and went with the big slapper from the slot, with the Bucs huge goaltender making a big save.  However, Bermy came back with a quick wrist shot later in the shift to tie the game up.  The Kings has shed some of their rust and the Bucs were running out of gas.  Massimo banged home a bouncing cross-ice back-door pass from Jeff to compelete a three-on-two with about a minute and a half to go to finally put the Kings in the lead.  The Kings played smothering defense the rest of the way and the Bucs were not able to pull their goalie until the final seconds of the game.
Please, if you cannot make a game, post on the site or give Bryan an e-mail or call.  People are going to be busy in the summer, and we don’t want to lose a game from being shorthanded.
Also, Bermy’s beer reserve is alomst depleated.  We would all like to thank him for bringing all that beer to the game over the past season.  Until we come up with a better plan, there is no coordinated plan for brining beer.  So please bring beers if you want to drink after the game.

It was a great comeback by the Kings! One clarification is that Paul (not Jeff) got the game winning assist, which was a thing of beauty.

Please use the Kings’ website to let the team know if you are not playing. We can always get exra skaters when we have advanced notice. Greg has Rodriquez cell phone # and he wants to play with us versus the Icemen (we pass to him).

Hi Guys,
I had no idea we had a game tonight. The last time I looked at the site was a few days back and tonight’s game wasn’t listed. Since I changed jobs I didn’t give Bryan my new email which peterciovacco@gmail.com
Sorry for missing and the short notice on this one. I really had no idea about the game.
