Kings roll River Rats 9-1
Thursday January 22, 2009 – Walter Brown Arena
Pete had a hat trick and the rest of the Hingham bus had points in the Kings victory over the River Rats last night at BU. After a sluggish start that had the Kings holding a 1-0 at the end of the first, the Kings opened up for 5 goals in the 2nd and 3 more in the third. That’s also including a clear goal scored by Josh that was erased by the refs not watching very closely. Wally got the scoring started early in the first, knocking in a nice rebound off a shot by Bob from the point. After a nasty penalty kill that had the Kings putting more shots on than the River Rats, the tables turned and Pete got a 2-goal shift to pace the rest of the night. The scrimmages had been paying off as the Kings displayed some pretty passing all around, including some nice moves by Ian at the top of the slot, dancing around a defender before dishing it to Pete to cap off the hat trick. Ed wasn’t tested too often, facing maybe 6 shots in the game, but the Kings couldn’t hold the shutout and the River Rats capitalized on a turnover late in the third to get on the board.
