Kings beat Wolverines 6-2
Tuesday January 6, 2009 – Walter Brown Arena
Jeff and Josh notched 2 goals apiece and Ed played a killer game in net to stop the Wolverines 6-2 on Tuesday night. The Kings got off to a rocky start, with Fran going in the box just seconds into the game, and then the Wolverines came down the ice and scored on the very next shift. The Kings would battle back and take the lead, only to give it up again on another ultra-short penalty kill. After Ian buried a loose puck in the high slot, the Kings settled down, playing a strong game in the offensive zone and breaking up outlet passes through the neutral zone. Ed turned in another classic performance in net, flashing the leather and leaving the Wolverines shaking their heads as he repeatedly robbed them on uncontested shots and odd man rushes down the ice. Josh’s Krejci-like deke on the goalie near the post (see this link and start watching around 15 seconds in) was a backbreaker for the Wolverines, and Jeff scored an almost-empty netter as time expired for the 6th goal.
