Kings topple Icebergs 5-2, extend division lead

Tuesday December 30, 2008 – Dedham Ice Arena

A full bench and some good forechecking helped the Kings defeat the 2nd place Icebergs and put more distance between them in the division race. The Kings broke a 2-2 tie in the 2nd when Greg made a great pass across the slot to Josh, who was waiting on the left faceoff circle to bury it in the open net. The Kings traded some chances with the Icebergs, but after a couple of early goals Ed shut the door for the rest of the night, making some good sprawling saves on a few scoring opportunities for the Icebergs. The Kings added a couple more in the third to extend the lead and seal the victory.

Solid three period, three zone effort. We skate like that we are going to win some hockey games.
Thanks for the home brew Bryan. And thanks to Bermy for lugging a huge cooler of beer to every game.
I just wanted to wish all the Kings a safe and happy new year. Bottoms up to better days!

Great game by everyone last night! We beat a very good, fast skating team. Going in to 2009 as the #1 team in the Norway Division is fantastic! The Hingham Bus producing 60% of the goals last night was sweet. Josh’s goal, set up by Greg and Paul, was worthy of ESPN highlight films.

In 2009, there will be growth in the spring, and The Kings will be in the hunt for another championship. We keep playing like we did last night and we will be wearing another new NESHL Champs T-Shirt (which Pete will give to Wally as his birthday present).

Happy New Year and in 2009 I hope for more jobs, goals, wins and Bermy Beer for everyone who wears The Kings Hockey Jersey (or sweater for John)!
