Kings wear down Icemen, win 8-2

Thursday December 18, 2008 – Canton Sportsplex

John took advantage of his last game before 2009, tallying 4 points as the Kings erased an early 0-2 deficit to win 8-2. The Kings used their full bench to set a fast pace and an aggressive forecheck that eventually wore down the Icemen. With only 3 subs, by the middle of the 2nd it was obvious they were gassed. Bob opened the scoring, dancing around some defenders in the left faceoff circle before lifting a shot over the Icemen goalie. Bryan got a breakaway goal on a nice outlet pass from Ian to tie the game, and Jeff got the eventual gamewinner from the left circle on a pass from Paul by the corner. From then on it was the John Huycke show as he potted 3 goals and an assist on a two-on-none goal by Paul, and an absurd no angle shot as he was skating past the right post. With the win the King solidified their hold on the NESHL Norway Division, extending a 3 point lead on the Icebergs who have a game in hand.

Sounds like a good win last night for the Kings.

The B’s game was a wild affair. Some sloppy second period play shrunk their 4 goal lead to one. Of course they pulled away at the end …. very entertaining.

See you guys on Sunday.
