Kings tie Hackers 2-2

Thursday October 9, 2008 – Asiaf Arena

Lots of passing, quick shots and stellar goaltending all around as the Kings drew even with the Hackers, 2-2. Just about the entire roster came out for the game and everyone had some solid minutes out on the ice. Ed turned in a solid performance as usual, including a monster save on a 2-on-0 with 15 seconds left to preserve the tie, but the Hackers goalie was the story, easily saving the game for them and frustrating the Kings offense through most of two periods. Down 2-0 with a minute left in the first, the Hingham bus finally broke through, with Wally dishing a nice pass from the right wing to Alan, who was cruising into the slot, and fired a shot low glove side to get the Kings on the board. Less than a minute into the third and Ian knotted the score with a nifty pass-fake shot that caught the goalie by surprise. Despite a number of solid chances, however, including a 5-on-3 power play, the Kings couldn’t get any more past the Hackers goalie. Ed was called upon to make a few key saves, including the breakaway at the end of the third, kicking out just about every shot that came his way.

It felt like we deserved better, but a good effort from everyone nonetheless.
By the way, I’ll be at Tuesday’s game but won’t be able to make it on either the 23rd (Thurs) or the 26th (Sun).
Go Sox!

I thought that, in the locker room last week, Alan was the one who said that “we all need to get to the games on a regular basis so that we can improve.” I did not realize that he meant the Red Sox games!

I am 50 -50 for tonight. Hoping to have wrapped up dinner with some big shots from overseas in time to play. If not – my loss since I’d rather be skating. Go get em!
