Kings drop season opener in final minute, lose 4-5
Tuesday September 23, 2008 – Dedham Ice Arena
Despite battling back from a 2-0 deficit to take the lead, the Kings couldn’t hold on as the Pirates broke a 4-4 tie in the final minute, potting a loose puck in the crease behind Ed for the lead and eventual win.
With some of the leading Kings scorers not available for the game, the lines were shook up as Fran moved back to D with Frank, Bermy and Bob and Ian and Bryan took turns up front. Greg got the Kings going early, taking a feed from Paul to bury a loose puck behind the Pirates goalie, and Josh had two goals including one that rang the post on the way in. Despite some good defense that didn’t see much sustained pressure in our own zone, the Pirates took advantage of what little opportunities they had and they made them stick.
Next game is Thursday October 2nd, 9:30pm at Canton. Watch the site for games that are added.
