The " I played junior player". NOT to be confused with Ringer. Be very wary of these guys and only give them a spare position to start. These phony's will indicate Jr. on their Resume just to get on a your team. Give him a shot though, it won't take long to evaluate. If their skating ability doesn't give it away their hockey "smarts" will like the idiot hanging around the Red line when the puck is deep in your end and/or yelling for the puck all the time even though you don't have it. They may be marginally good but ask him where he actually played and what years. If you can't find it on the map or his name anywhere and if he is not to big CUT HIM IMMEDIATELY or just put on the DO NOT CALL section of your roster. Do your research, once on full time these guys might have a hidden agenda , turn into flakes or worse a cancer in the room trying to manipulate and destroy your team of good guys. If he says what he says he is ,you should be able to sit back and watch him score 2 or 3 goals or tap ins for the other guys every night in most beer leagues.

· The Female Player – Today’s times have changed and most house leagues are now co-ed. You might not like it, but suck it up – it’s called the Women’s Movement. At first there’s the appeal of potentially seeing one of them naked in the locker room. Then you figure out that the women aren’t really there for you and instead buddy up to another woman on the team or, worse, cajole with the women on the other league teams. They end up dressing in the women’s bathroom anyway and come back in and sit next to each other talking about their kids, their jobs or menstrual cycles. Boring! The married ones are usually in their 40s and scram as soon as the game is over. If you are lucky enough to get a younger, single one on your team – watch out! She’s looking to make some hook-ups and you won’t be the first or the last one so proceed at your own risk. On ice they are slower than a pee wee player but for some reason play impeccable position. They are friendly, know everyone’s name but can cuss worse than anyone on the bench or mock the refs to the point of embarrassment.
