Kings comeback falls short, lose to SS Sharks 6-5

Sunday August 10, 2008 – Canton Sportsplex

Jeff’s recap of last night’s game:

The Kings played a great game last night, despite the loss.  We
started with 9 skaters, then Fran got thrown out of the game on a
ridiculous call.  Fran was tripped and went flying into the boards and
we should have had the power play.  Instead, there was no call, Fran
got a penalty and then tossd out of the game!  We played the Sharks
even into the 3rd period.

We all were tired and almost lost another skater.  Dan, who had 2
penalties and had a partial pulled groin, was told to hover around the
blue line, create chaos but not get another penalty, and not pull his
groin any more, but score a goal.  The remaining 7 skaters ended up
playing every position.  We all hit the wall with fatigue with about
10 minutes left in the game when it was 3-3.  Two minutes later it was
6-3 for the Sharks.  With about 2 minutes left in the game, Burger,
with assists from everyone else, banged in a goal to make it 6-4 ( Ed
was almost to the bench for another skater).  Dan, with half a groin,
scored a great upper corner wrist shot to make it 6-5 with 1 minute
left.  We ended up losing 6-5, but we all played well.  Bryan was a
monster in the offensive corners (a la Wayne Cashman and Ken Hodge).
Burger played Espo to bang home 2 goals.  Ed played great.

WE NEED TO WIN ON WEDNESDAY!

Good luck at the game tonight. Hopefully Bryan was able to round up enough skaters. We certainly need the win.

I think we have the same number as last week. Dan’s ready to skate and we’re getting Ian back. Tonight we’re playing a team that’s only one division above us, which will be a nice change of pace.
