Kings Cruise Past Suffolk University 8-3

Kings jumped out to an early lead which they held for the entire game, defeating the Suffolk Rams 8-3 at Walter Brown on Thursday night.  Looking to spark the Kings out of their summer lull, Jeff shook up the lines. Fran and Bermy were back on defense, and Ian picked up a couple of helpers playing wing.  To the best of my knowledge, goal scorers included Burger, Josh, Paul, Bermy on a break away (assists to Bob and Ed), myself backhanding in a rebound off a Alan rush into an open net, the usual hat trick from John.  Every line contributed and it was a solid three period effort.  The Kings stayed out of the box for the most part, and cashed in on one of our best power plays of the season.  Ed wasn’t tested often, but did make a big stop on a break away and another holding the post with two guys hacking away at ‘em.  There were just about no rebounds as Ed smothered every lose puck around the net.  The defense broke up many odd man rushes without surrendering scoring chances.

Every player on the Suffolk team was solid and strong on the puck, but they only had six skaters.  If they had a full team, it would have likely been a much closer game.  The Rams goalie keep coming out of the net to cut down angles well, but left some juicy rebounds.

Ian is out for the game on Tuesday night.
Ed will be out in Seattle from July 25th through August 10th. We’ll have to round up some replacement net- minders.
Sorry again about your truck Bermy, let us know how that turns out.

Some jack-ass chicken shit Brookline vandals threw fistfuls of gravel at Bermy’s truck when we were stopped at a red light. The roof and the windshield were dinged up. Unfortunately, no beatings were handed out.

We believe the culprits struck from the rooftop of a brownstone, and with all the buildings on the street connected, and us taking a couple of seconds to figure out what had happened, they were likely long gone by the time we got out of the truck.
