Kings defeat Brawlers 5-2

Thursday April 3, 2008 – Asiaf Arena

John had a hat trick, including two goals on one shift, and the Kings knocked off the Brawlers in the final regular season game. The Kings built a 2-0 lead through the first half of the game and controlled the pace through most of it, but the Brawlers were able to capitalize on some defensive lapses and the game was tied at the end of two periods. There were a couple of good chances, including John ringing the post and the crossbar on a breakaway, until Jeff broke the tie, walking the puck out from the left corner and burying a wrister from close range. John then took the puck in off the ensuing faceoff, twice, and came away with two more goals. Fran had a power play goal to round out the scoring.

The Kings finished the regular season a respectable 12-9-3, going 8-1-1 down the stretch after a sub-par start. The playoff start Tuesday April 8th, at 9:10pm at Bavis Arena against the Icemen.

Dan was a great asset on defense. He should be Fran’s replacement throughout the play-offs.

Frank,

Glad that you have recovered, as we need you in the play-offs. Bryan, have Dan take Mike or Pete’s place if they do not show. I cannot make any games from 4/23 – 28 so Dan can take my place during any of those games.

great game. good to wrap up the season with a W. Dan seems like a good addition for the summer if we can fit him in. Hope to make it Tuesday. I can’t convince the wife to skip out in the whole birthing thing.
