Kings tie Young Guns 3-3

Friday February 8, 2007 – Canton Sportsplex

The Kings’ first league game against the Young Guns lived up to the hype and ended in a 3-3 tie. The Kings got off to a fast start, pushing the Young Guns back into their own zone for most of the first period and came out with a 1-0 at the end, when Bermy fed Paul in the faceoff circle who ripped it top-shelf of the Young Guns goalie – unfortunately for him he was playing for the Young Guns. Later in the second Josh buried a low shot on a breakout that pushed the Kings to a 2-0 lead. However the Young Guns would get back into the game and tied it up. The Kings and Young Guns traded some good scoring chances but finally John got a go-ahead goal with about twelve minutes to play, putting in his own rebound near the post. The Kings locked down the rest of the period and limited the Young Guns scoring chances, but a fluttering slapshot on net from Bermy fooled the Kings goalie Keith and tied the game with just 40 seconds left.

Big thanks go out to Keith for filling in on a Friday night. And to Burger and Fran for bringing beers.

Bermy ripped the two points out of our hands in the closing minutes. go figure. The highlight of the night was hanging out in the parking lot drinking beer in two degree weather. GO KINGS!
