Kings hold on to beat East Coast Bulldogs 6-5

Sunday November 11, 2007 – Quincy Youth Arena

John’s natural hat trick dug the Kings out of a 2-0 hole and the Kings held on to survive two goals against in the final minute to notch a 6-5 victory over the East Coast Bulldogs tonight in Quincy.

After spotting the Bulldogs a 2-0 lead early in the first, John and Jeff went to work, leading the goal scoring to push the Kings to a 3-2 lead. After Bob knocked down a clearing pass and rifled a shot into the far corner from the boards at the blue line, the Bulldogs potted another goal, but right off the faceoff Pete and Burger came back and put another one past the sprawling goalie to pad the lead again.

The Bulldogs made a made rush to tie it, scoring three goals in the last few minutes (including two in the last minute), and got a penalty against Jeff to put them up 6 on 4 with seconds left in the game and the faceoff at the Kings’ right circle, but the Kings were able to hang on for the 6-5 win and pull their record to .500.

Good win last night. Its a good way to head into our home-home-home series against the Pirates. You know what they say about those, you have to win at home, then get at least a tie on the road, and then at least another tie at that third rink.

After falling so much I am not sure if my body can take another game in two days. That’s what giving 110% to the team does to you.

Big ups to Paul for showing up a little late but helping push us over the top, and to Ed for making several crazy saves, including two point blank shots on one breakaway.
Can’t make it on Tuesday.

Hey if we take two of three against the Pirates we can play the winner of the Cardinals-Astros series.

I personally owe Ed at least eight beers for hanging him out to dry so many times.

Burger, did I get the scoring right?
