Kings win Summer Championship 4-3

Thursday September 20, 2007 – Canton Sportsplex

After trailing 0-2 into the second period and failing to convert on a 5 on 3 power play, the Kings clawed back into the game. First Paul deked two defenders and the goalie and found the 5 hole on a backhander, and then Josh buried a onetimer on the backdoor crease. Midway through the 3rd the Kings took the lead with a deflected centering pass from John from the corner. Alan got the game-winner with a spinaround roofer on the short side in the faceoff circle less than two minutes later. The Cobras would get one back with less than six minutes to play in the third and continued to press for the rest of the game. However the Kings defense and goaltending would bend but not break, and at the end the Kings had captured their 3rd summer division title in 4 years.

Great win, but to clarify, Paul had the first goal deking his way through two Cobra defenders before slipping it past the behemoth that is their goalie. Next up …. a Winter Championship.

Great season to end up # 1 in the regular season. Even better to get to the Championship game. And absolutely fantastic to once again end up as the Champions of the Playoffs! I am sorry that I could not be there but all of NY was rooting for the Kings last Thursday night.

Now on to doing the same thing in the Winter Season! Hopefully, everyone on the injured reserved list can play this coming season.

Great job everybody,

Thanks,
Jeff
