Kings beat Beer Pong Rejects 4-2

Tuesday June 12, 2007 – Quincy Youth Arena

The Kings scored three unanswered goals in the third period to get past the Beer Pong Rejects, 4-2. Bermy had two goals and an assist, including the gamewinner, and John and Paul also notched goals to put the Kings over .500 on the new season.

Bermy opened the scoring with a nice slapper from the slot on a clean faceoff win by Fran. After spotting the Rejects two goals, including a 1 on 2 end-to-end rush, the Kings offense really went to work, pinning them in their own zone for minutes at a time and getting a ton of shots on goal, including a couple great penalty kills. John finally broke through about 6:00 into the third frame from Bermy to tie things up, and a few minutes later Bermy got the go ahead goal. Paul added some insurance on a nice feed from Mike on the half boards a few minutes after that.

I don’t expect the refs to be helping us out too much when we have a full bench and they have a short bench, but it seems like too many refs are on a power trip lately. Why can’t we ask a question or get an explanation for a call?
Still it is nice to get the win and again we didn’t have to play too much in our own zone.
