Kings Beat Brawlers 4-2

Thursday May 17, 2007 – Canton Sportsplex

The Kings opened the summer season with a solid, old school effort with great passing and some pretty goals to top the Brawlers 4-2. It was a fast paced game, where the first whistle didn’t happen until about the 9:00 mark of the first period, with some great puck movement by both sides. Despite getting pinned in our own zone for the early part of the period, Keith McArt (who filled in for Ed in net) stopped the few chances they had, and goals by Paul and Bermy got us a 2-0 lead by the end of the first. The score stayed that way until the Brawlers finally broke through in the 3rd. Then with less than three minutes to play, Bermy sprung John on a nice feed up the left side while the Brawlers were changing, giving John only the goalie to beat with a nice roofer in the top corner short side. Despite giving up another goal to pull within one, Paul sealed the win with an empty-netter. A great game and great start to the summer season.

If I remember correctly Fran had the second goal on a one timer from the point. Great game, Kings win!
