Kings vs. Icepack: 4-2
Thursday, February 22, 2007 – Asiaf Arena Brockton
Another solid effort from the Kings put away division rivals the Icepack in a 4-2 win tonight. Fran scored on a penalty shot and had two assists, and John provided a backbreaking shorthanded goal to take the lead for good in the d period. After going up 2-0 in the 2nd on goals by Alan and Fran, we let the Icepack back into the game a bit, where they tied it up on a couple of tough scrambles in front of the net. A bad call put us back on the PK, but a great goal set up by Ian as the penalty expired put us ahead for good and totally deflated the Icepack. We got back to pinning it in their end and the capper came on Greg’s slapshot in the far top corner, right off a faceoff win that couldn’t have been executed better. Aside from some lapses and bad play down low in our own end, the defense was solid again, keeping most shots to the outside and high in the zone and breaking up a few odd man rushes. Ed turned in another solid performance that gave us the chance to win the game. The win gives us a 3-point division lead on the Icepack, with a game in hand on them.
