Kings vs. Larz: 5-1

Thursday, February 1, 2007 – UMass Boston

Recap

Jeff returned to the lineup from the DL and made an immediate impact, factoring on at least two goals including the gamewinner as the Kings rolled to a 5-1 victory over Larz. Slow going in the first two periods as we built the lead, but thanks to some stellar goaltending by Ed who was putting on a clinic all night, jumping on rebounds and flashing the glove a couple times. Special teams was great, killing off all four minutes of a double minor to Bob for checking; Mike and Paul ran in low during the first two minutes and kept the puck below the faceoff dots for almost the entire penalty. Fran delivered a backbreaking 4th goal, going coast to coast, around the net and rifling a short-side wrister into the top corner. Late in the 3rd Jeff and Josh provided an insurance goal on a nice bang-bang play from behind the right corner of the net to the low slot.

The captain scored the GWG and broke up a ton of their rushes at both of the blue lines.

Ha, yeah that was an ugly goal, sorta like Dan McGoff’s goal against Northeastern tonight. I’ll take it, though
